Nigeria Railway Corporation lost 119.85 million naira in 2023 compared to revenue figures recorded in 2022. This is according to analyses of data obtained from the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics. The revenue generated from transporting passengers decreased from 4.5 million naira in 2022 to 4.4 million naira in 2023.

This decline in revenue represents 2.64 per cent within the period. According to the report, NRC transported 2,182,388 passengers in 2023, compared to 3,212,948 passengers in 2022. The number of passengers in 2023 dropped by 32.08 per cent compared to 2022.
